Petra Hielkema

Director of the Payments and Market Infrastructures Division, Dutch Central Bank

Petra is Director of the Payments and Market Infrastructure division at the Dutch Central Bank. The division is responsible for payments and collateral operations of the central bank, oversight, policy, the DNB Cyber Intelligence Unit. As payments are, at the frontier of technological innovation in the financial sector, the division is actively involved in the monitoring developments in this field, as well as experimenting with new technologies itself. Furthermore, the division is leading the operationalresilience program (ethical hacking) called TIBER-NL.

Petra joined the Dutch Central Bank in February 2007. Prior to joining the Dutch Central Bank Petra had an international career in the oil and gas industry. Petra is a member of the Basel Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures. She also co-chairs the FSB financial market infrastructure Cross Border Crisis Management. Furthermore, she is member of the Supervisory Board en Executive Committee of Child and Youth Finance International, an organisation that is encouraging sound economic citizenship and enterpreneurship for children and youth worldwide. Petra has a European Masters in Law & Economics and a Masters in Russian Studies. She is married and proud mother of three children.
